A silver jubilee

I grew up in the same womb she did. I fed the milk from the same mother as she did. I wore most of the clothes she wore when she was of my age. She is my elder sister with whom I share a very narrow age margin (not even 2 years). And so we were more of best friends than sisters. We studied in the same school but in different grades and it’s logical that we grew up together and learnt lots of new things in life almost at the same time. She knows me more than myself and I can also claim myself to know the most about her.

Somebody rightly said, “Sisters are half of a mother and half of a best friend“. She showed me lots of care and support as she was the first person who would understand my decisions in the family. Like any other siblings, we too fought several times and swore not to ever talk and to keep each other as the lifelong enemy just to forget and forgive everything the next minute. As an elder, she tried her best to act strict to me but I gave no damn and that was the root cause for our several quarrels we had during our childhood days. Our parents were really much annoyed with us fighting and quarreling.

She was always ahead of me in any endeavor of life. And today, my soul sister is turning 25 years old (yeah…a Silver Jubilee) and I cannot have any other better opportunity to write about her. Well, firstly happy birthday my dearest sister and I know you are the greatest gift I have been blessed with. I wish to apologize to you too for not being understanding at times as I was not matured enough to place myself into your shoes sometimes. I know I have been very mischievous too in those childhood days but we both know very well that those times were the best days in our lives.

As sisters of the same parents, we have enjoyed lots of privileges and you too should agree that we had amazing days shared together due to our great sisterhood. It seems very hard for me to narrate any beautiful moment with you clearly because there are countless moments I have lived with you and I cannot get appropriate words to tell you how I have felt all these years. Life was mean and harsh sometimes which made me think that I am the most unlucky person but the only reason that made me look away from such disastrous thoughts was you. You wiped away my tears installing a new hope in me. You made me feel that no matter what happens in our lives, we shall always have each others’ support and care.

She is yet to enter a new phase of her life very soon. I know she is having a mixed emotion of anxiousness, excitement and nervousness but let me tell you that I shall always be there to lift you throughout the journey. This sisterhood I have with you is for the whole life. Lots of people came in my live and went away one day. But the person who never left me is no other than a caring and affectionate sister Tashi Dema. You have given me the best and I proudly honor you with the crown of Best Sister in the world
